Understanding Energy Basics
Understanding energy dynamics is essential for those who want to minimize problems and keep and deal with their horses in ways that are harmonious with the horse's natural ways. It is also essential if you want to understand alternative approaches and therapies, for most are based on energy. Looking at things from an energy standpoint is different from looking at things from a physical standpoint and gives a different understanding. Although energy influences may seem at first glance to be wierd and far out, they're really not. They're actually just simple common sense and can be understood by thinking about things familiar from everyday life. We're going to look at energy influences in simplified terms.
Physics and Einstein's Theory of Relativity basically tell us that matter; that is, all that exists in the physical realm, is just energy which is confined. This is the basic principle behind the atomic bomb--it explodes because tremendous energy, which was formerly confined within the atomic structure, is released. All matter is composed, among other things, of what are called atomic particles. There are other particles, some classified as subatomic particles, but we will only focus on the three atomic particles which are most familiar--protons, electrons, and neutrons. Protons have a positive electrical charge, neutrons have no electrical charge, while electrons have a negative electrical charge. These particles combine to form what are called atoms. You can think of an atom as composed of particles which are confined and compressed energy. An atom is structured so that the protons and neutrons are clustered together in what is called the nucleus, while the electrons whirl around the nucleus in paths that are called orbits. Atoms are clustered together to form molecules. Combinations of molecules form all that exists on the physical level.
Electrons, whirling around in their orbits, are moving. All of us are familiar with moving electrons, because moving electrons are called "electricity." Your computer is powered by electricity, or moving electrons. Since electricity is moving electrons, we can then say that the electrons whirling around the nucleus of an atom produce electricity. That means that every atom is a tiny electrical generator. Electricity, or moving electrons, creates what is called an electromagnetic field. This electromagnetic field can influence objects nearby through what is called "induction." The strength of this field is determined by the amount of movement of the electrons, or the amount of electricity. The more electron movement (the more electricity), the stronger the magnetic field. A magnetic field is a field of energy created by moving electrons.
We're all familiar with magnetic fields, the most common example being if you hold a magnet near a nail, the magnet will attract and pick up the nail. This is induction. In this example we're talking about a strong magnet. However, everything generates a magnetic field to some degree or another, since everything is composed of atoms which contain moving electrons. Your hand generates a magnetic field. It's not strong enough to pick up a nail, but it is there nonetheless, and even though the magnetic field generated by your hand is not strong enough to pick up a nail, it is strong enough to have some influence on nearby objects. The influence is so small, you can't detect it. But remember, it is there.
The electron movement around the nucleus also creates a vibration known as a "frequency." In basic terms the frequency is determined by the orbit of the electrons and how fast they whirl around the nucleus. Each atom has its own frequency. When atoms combine to form molecules, the frequencies also combine and create what is called "resonance." Resonance can be thought of as the frequency created by the combination of two or more individual frequencies. For example, supposed the frequencies of 3 atoms combine to form a water molecule. This water molecule has resonance, which is really just a frequency formed by the combination of the frequencies of the component atoms. If this water molecule combines with some other molecule, the resonances (or frequencies) of both molecules combine to form a new resonance, which is the frequency of the new compound. This continues over and over billions and billions of times, with the result that my body, for example, has a resonance, or unique frequency, which is composed of all the separate frequencies of all the atoms in my body. Everything which exists has a unique resonance. It’s like a symphony orchestra. An orchestra consists of a lot of different instruments that all make different kinds of sounds, all playing different notes, and yet they all combine together to form a piece of music, a pleasing sound....this is RESONANCE.
Now think about your own body. Your body, including the clothes you are wearing, is a combination of countless numbers of atoms, all with electrons whirling around a nucleus....negatively-charged particles moving, which means that they create an electromagnetic field. All these electromagnetic fields combine together to produce the RESONANCE of your body. That is something you can’t see, it’s something you can’t measure, because it’s something tiny, it’s something that’s very subtle...but it IS there. Remember, when you're talking about atoms and molecules, you're talking about things that are very, very tiny. Your body has a unique RESONANCE, created by the unique combination of atoms that is your body. Your body’s electromagnetic field extends out about 3 feet....about the reach of your arms.
Now let's step back and consider this in relation to the horse. Your horse, just like your own body, is a combination of a whole lot of molecules, which themselves are combinations of atoms. Each atom has its own frequency, which when combined into a molecule creates a resonance. Thus, each molecule has its own resonance. The molecules that make up each part of the horse combine to form their own resonance. And each part of the horse, with its own resonance, combines to form the unique resonance of the horse. In electromagnetic terms, the atoms, with their own electromagnetic fields, combine to form molecules, which themselves have electromagnetic fields which are the result of the combination of the electromagnetic fields of the individual atoms. These molecules combine to form cells, and all the electromagnetic fields of each molecule combine to form the electromagnetic field of each cell. The cells combine to form tissues, like a heart, a lung, kidneys, hooves, etc....and each of these tissues has its own electromagnetic field--the result of the combination of all the separate fields of the cells. Then the tissues combine to form the horse, and the horse has an electromagnetic field which is the result of all the electromagnetic fields of all the tissues. It's the same thing as thinking about the physical composition of a horse, with atoms forming molecules, molecules forming cells, cells forming tissues, and tissues forming the horse, except we're not thinking of it in the physical sense, but rather in the energy sense. It's thinking of the elements from the Periodic Table not in physical terms of matter but in frequency terms of energy.
We say that each horse is a unique individual, just like each dog is a unique individual, each cat is a unique individual, and each human is a unique individual. In energy terms what we're really saying is that each has its own unique resonance, made up of the unique resonances of all the molecules that make up the body. And keep in mind here that each part of this unique individual horse has its own unique individual resonance--the stomach, the tongue, the tail, the hoof, the ear, every part of the body--all of which combine together to form the unique resonance of that particular horse, that unique individual. In energy terms what makes your horse a unique individual is its unique resonance.
Now let's back up a bit... When all the frequencies of all the atoms and all the resonances of all the molecules are harmonious and combine in a harmonious way, we say that the horse is "healthy." But when some resonances are disharmonious and do not combine in a harmonious way, we say that the horse is "unhealthy," and this can be on a physical or mental level. Thus a state of "unhealth," whether physical or emotional or both, is a state of dissonance, a result of frequencies and resonances which do not combine in a harmonious way.
So what creates disharmony? Well, let's think back to the building blocks of resonance--the frequencies of the individual atoms. We said that frequency is determined by the orbit and speed of electron movement. Physics tells us that an electron will remain in its orbit unless disturbed by an outside force. What disrupts the frequency of an atom and ultimately creates disharmony in the resonance is an outside force that changes the orbit and speed of the electrons. What is able to do that? An electromagnetic field. We said that the electrons whirling around the nucleus of each atom create an electromagnetic field. If the atom comes under the influence of another electromagnetic field to the extent that the orbit and speed of the electrons are changed, then the frequency of that atom will also change. If it changes so that it is disharmonious with the resonance, we say that it has been subjected to a detrimental influence. If the change is toward greater harmony, we say that it is a supportive influence.
Now let’s think about music for a minute. Think about music that sounds good. Then think about music that doesn't sound good, like a child banging on a piano. What's the difference? Well, the music that doesn't sound good doesn’t harmonize.....it clashes....it sort of grinds in our ears. Music that harmonizes consists of different tones, different musical notes, different FREQUENCIES that all blend together and fit together and work good together. But music that doesn't harmonize, that doesn't sound good, consists of different tones, different frequencies, that don’t blend together, don’t fit together, don’t work good together, and it all sounds bad. The same principle of dissonance in music is applicable to dissonance in energetic frequencies.
So now, talking about a living body again, we can understand what something "harmful" is. It’s the music that doesn’t harmonize, the notes that don’t blend together, the tones that don’t fit together, the music that seems to grind in our ears. We can say that it does not RESONATE. And that’s really what something "harmful“ is...it doesn’t resonate with the rest of the body, it clashes with the rest of the body. Everything has a resonance. When we say that something is harmful, we mean that its resonance does not mix well with the existing resonance. For example, my body has a certain resonance, and cyanide has a certain resonance. The reason cyanide is harmful to me is that its resonance does not mix with mine. It’s poisonous to me because its resonance does not harmonize with mine.
Now...thinking about the horse again, we said that everything that exists is made up of atoms with an associated electromagnetic field, that everything has an electromagnetic aspect and an associated magnetic field which affects nearby objects through the process of induction--which means that everything, including you, that comes near enough to the horse to influence the orbit of the electrons will influence the resonance (or health) of the horse to one degree or another, for either good or bad. How does this work? Well, in general, the faster the electron movement, the more electricity is produced, and the "healthier" the atom, while the slower the electron movement, the less electricity is produced, and the "unhealthier" the atom. So, a supportive influence (something that's good for the horse) has the effect of supporting or speeding up electron movement; that is, it is "energizing," while a detrimental influence (something that's bad for the horse) has the effect of disturbing, or slowing, electron movement.
The easiest way of understanding this is to think of an EEG, which measures certain electrical activity in the brain. Strong electrical activity means you are alive; weak electrical activity means there's something wrong; while no electrical activity means you are dead. Another example is fascinating and involves an acquaintance who fell and broke her back. The bones were healing very slowly; in fact, the doctor was not sure whether they were healing at all. So a test was done to see if healing was occurring. The test involved measuring tiny electrical currents put out at the site of the break. If electrical activity was present, it meant the bones were healing. So, in the case of broken bones, it is electrical activity, i.e. energization, that stimulates the healing.
So, let's consider something related to horses...a stall. If you think in energy terms, a stall is a certain, unique combination of atoms, and all those atoms together produce a certain RESONANCE. It’s sort of like going in with a camera and taking a picture of a stall, except you can think of the picture of the resonance as being not the visible light reflected off the objects in the stall but as the combination of the unique electromagnetic fields of each atom that makes up all the parts, all the things in and about that stall. All that together creates a symphony...a resonance...and that symphony, or resonance, may or may not harmonize with the resonance of the horse. If it does, the stall is good for the horse. If it does not, the stall is harmful to the horse.
The mental and physical health of the horse is determined by the health of the component cells making up each body part. The electromagnetic flow is what regulates the health and activity of every cell in your horse's body, from the eyes to the hooves. Disturbances and detrimental influences will have corresponding detrimental effects on the cells and thus the body parts that the cells make up. On the atomic level, your horse is and becomes that which influences the atoms in your horse's body on a day to day basis. If your horse is not what it could be, then that means that the influences your horse is exposed to are detrimental.
